The JKA 6th Kyu grading represents another significant step in a student’s karate journey, requiring greater precision, control and consistency in their techniques. Students are expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of their stances, blocks, punches, kicks and kata, while showing improved timing, coordination and focus. At this level, students are encouraged to perform with greater confidence and purpose, applying the principles developed through regular training. Achieving 6th Kyu is a rewarding accomplishment that reflects dedication, discipline and continued commitment to improving in JKA Shotokan Karate.

Green Belt (6th Kyu)
The JKA 5th Kyu grading is an important milestone in a student’s karate journey, marking their continued development towards more advanced levels of training. Students are expected to demonstrate greater precision, speed, power and control across their techniques, including stances, blocks, punches, kicks and kata. At this level, students develop a deeper understanding of timing, distance, balance and the correct application of techniques. Achieving 5th Kyu reflects a student’s dedication, discipline and hard work, while preparing them for the challenges of the higher Kyu grades.

Blue Belt (5th Kyu)
The JKA 4th Kyu grading marks an important stage in a student’s progression towards the higher levels of karate. Students are expected to demonstrate strong technique, speed, power and control, while showing a deeper understanding of timing, distance, balance and movement. Their performance in stances, blocks, punches, kicks and kata should reflect consistency, confidence and focus developed through regular training. Achieving 4th Kyu is a significant accomplishment that demonstrates commitment, discipline and determination, and prepares students for the more demanding grades ahead.
